Bakhtiar Panjei grabs best actor award

Iranian actor Bakhtiar Panjei has won best actor award for his role in ‘Namo’ at the Hong Kong International Film Festival.

Iranian actor Bakhtiar Panjei has won best actor award for his role in ‘Namo’ at the Hong Kong International Film Festival.

The 2020 edition of the festival has announced the names of the winners despite being cancelled over coronavirus outbreak.

The 44th edition of HKIFF was formerly due to be held on March but was postponed to August; however, the event was cancelled completely following to the continuation of coronavirus pandemic crisis.

Directed by Nader Saeevar, ‘Namo’ narrates the story of members of a family who have to move to Kordestan Province of Iran because of the job of the father of the family who is a teacher.

The film follows their life in the new environment.

Some of other cast members are Sevil Shirgir, Nader Mehdilou, Nasser Hashemi, Hadi Eftekharzadeh, Firouz Aqeli and Tara Aqajani.

The HKIFF promotes Asian, Hong Kong and Chinese film culture.

The festival aims to discover new areas of filmmaking in Asia and China.
